Frequently Asked Questions about Dripline

We need some info before we can help with a quote. For dripline, pricing depends on:

  • The Wall Thickness you choose - the thicker the dripline walls, the longer the pipe will last.
  • The spacing between emitters required, you can choose anywhere from 20 - 120cm when ordering.
  • The amount of metres required. This is determined by your layout design (basic designs available on our brochure.
  • The amount of lines you'll be running, to quote you on fittings accurately.
  • The size of your mainline, to quote you on a sufficient filter.

You can contact us on WhatsApp on +27 61 502 2547 or via email at admin@afriqwater.co.za for a formal quote.

You can find more info on our Wall Thicknesses below, but in short, the thicker the Wall Thickness, the longer the pipe will last. NOTE: This does come with an exception; if you have lime in your water, it will clog the emitter on the inner walls beyond repair, making the whole system unusable - go with a disposable drip tape in this case.

Our dripline comes with emitters pre-installed onto the inner wall of the pipe, with a punch accurately placed on the emitter, to allow for water flow, at whatever cm spacing between emitters you chose.

Simply send us a message with your requirements. We'll send along your quote and once you're ready to pay (quotes do expire), you can use your quote number and your phone number as a reference. We require a 50% deposit to put orders on the production schedule.

Selection of dripline

Afriq Water Customized Dripline

Wall thickness is determined by considering the environmental factors of the land or area. Seasonal drips are ideal for water with lime. Thicker Wall Thickness dripline is ideal for tunnels, or farms with ideal farming conditions.

Each emitter delivers an exact, specified amount of water and fertiliser (if using a fertilizer tank - available from Afriq Water) directly to each plant's root zone, resulting in consistent irrigation applications across an entire field.

The Benefits of Dripline

  • Lower water consumption.
  • High crop yields and quality.
  • Easy installation and dismantling.
  • Irrigates uniformly on most topography- and soil types, with precise water distribution and less puddling.
  • Energy savings: drip irrigation works on low pressure, and lines can run with gravity if the topography allows.
  • Efficient use of fertiliser, fungicide, and insecticide with no seeping.
  • Reduced weed growth.
  • Less dependency on weather conditions which leads to greater stability and lower risk.
  • Start every season with a new dripline, lowering the chance of pathogen spread.

Crop Benefits

Pivots and flood irrigation systems are inconsistent, often flooding fields once every few days. Plants/crops suffer bouts of drought that stunt their growth and quality with these systems. Dripline offers a steady, consistent application of water and nutrients (if applicable), to help plants grow fast and plentiful.

Frequent, smaller doses of water delivered to the root zone, controlled entirely by the farmer, promote higher yields and controlled quality.

All types of crops and land are suitable for this method of irrigation. From field crops such as maise, soya bean or sugarcane; to vegetables and tree crops.

The Cost

The initial investment in dripline can be costly, but farmers should calculate the return on investment over a longer period of time, taking into consideration increases in crop yields while saving on inputs (water, fertiliser, energy and labour). Dripline can pay for itself in a relatively short period of time, ensuring a higher profit further down the line

Afriq Water prides itself in providing farmers with cost-effective irrigation solutions, making farming more accessible to all.

You can start a field with a small portion of dripline, and expand as your needs grow and according to affordability.
